This Is Me...

I finished work in May 2017 to become Joshua’s full time #carer, the most special, rewarding role I have ever had! I was privileged to have spent every moment during the next three precious months with my brave boy and his loving sister before Josh passed away.

Since then I have taken a year out of employment for #bereavement time (though I have volunteered at @SpringsideSchool since November and of course founded @JollyJosh). James has worked tirelessly to support our family, for which I am incredibly grateful! #Grief brings additional stresses, for financial support is not considered or supported and yet of course it is a huge additional burden!

Tomorrow I return to work… After 13 years of working in 'mainstream' education I am about to embark on a new challenge… I am very proud to become a teacher for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (#PMLD) and to join the Springside School team. My co teacher Becky and I have been extremely busy over the summer preparing our new classroom; we’re very pleased with the results.

I learnt so much from Joshua and I became submerged in the world of caring for a child with PMLD, I know that this will help me in my new role but I also know that I have a lot to learn as of course, every child is unique.

I will continue to voluntarily run Jolly Josh, to enable families in #Rochdale with children with #SEND to #ConnectSupportThrive to #InspireInclusion and to develop the #charity with the help of our trustees and supporters.

I am a Mummy, I am a Mummy of a child who had PMLD, and as of tomorrow I am a #PMLDteacher
