Anna Oddy

Specialist Complex Needs Nurse / Palliative Nurse

My name is Anna Oddy (RN (Child) BSc (Hons) Children’s nursing). I undertook the children’s nurse training at the University of Central Lancashire from 1998- 2001.  Once qualifying I worked at Booth Hall Children’s Hospital on ward 14.  Following this I moved to Pendlebury Children’s Hospital and worked on the Bone Marrow transplant unit.   In 2006 I joined the Children’s Community Team in Rochdale and recognised the importance of palliative care within the community setting.  The Children’s community Team provides acute and complex care to children’s with in the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale area.  I have remained within this team and I am now the Complex Coordinator and Palliative Care Specialist Nurse.   I have completed the double module in palliative care, advanced communication training and the non medical prescribing, clinical examination and a module in bereavement support whilst working within the community setting.  I also led a Greater Manchester palliative care project (TEDDY project) scoping the community palliative care services.  This project was then funded to extend to scope the whole of the North West region.   I am also additionally an active member of the Greater Manchester and North West palliative care network.
