Family R

I* is a loving and determined little girl, she doesn't let things get in her way and she is full of mischief.

At 3 days of age it was discovered that I* had 2 holes in her heart, they would need to be surgically repaired. Bloods undertaken for chromosome disorders found that she has 22q 11.2 deletion syndrome (DiGeorge Syndrome). I*'s heart surgery was carried out when she was 7 months old. I* has always struggled to feed, and needed a nasogastric tube the surgery did not correct her feeding issues. It was then discovered that she also had a submucous cleft palate this was surgically repaired at 22 months. I*'s feeding has now improved, and she has been without her N.G. tube for over 12 months.
I* has recently said her first word, and we are working on her language development.
